Founded in 1984 by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Learner, Cisco Systems introduced variety of Cisco certifications with an intent to give a new face to networking industry of the world. Deriving its name from place a known as Francisco, Leonard and Sandy were employed at Stanford University of San Francisco, California. The owners of the organization were mainly involved into production of various routers and switches that brought transparency while transmitting data over internet despite huge differences in terms of time, place and platform being used.

Cisco was the first company/organization to introduce multi-functional multi-protocol router having an amazing capability of connecting two incompatible computer systems with each other.
