The CCNP certification issued by Cisco Systems of the USA is important for you, as this certification is considered the next step after CCNA.

You can, however, bag CCNP certification even without having done CCNA. But you can get mileage in the CCNP exam if you have already done CCNA. The CCNP exam can be taken directly (without clearing CCNA).

What is CCNP?

CCNP is an intermediate-level Cisco certification. Cisco is also a leading manufacturer of communication and networking equipment. Your best way to know what CCNP is is to get into the issue of networking certifications issued by Cisco. CCNP is one of these certifications issued by Cisco.

Full form of CCNP

The full form of CCNP is Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). As a network professional, you must obtain the CCNP certification, as it testifies your knowledge in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex computer network infrastructure.

CCNP exam fees

You should have a look at the CCNP exam fees before you take admission to the course. The fees run as follows (depending upon the tacks):

  1. CCNP Collaboration: $300 USD per exam
  2. CCNP Data Centre: $300 USD per exam
  3. CCNP Enterprise: $300 USD per exam
  4. CCNP Security: $300 USD per exam
  5. CCNP Service Provider: $300 USD per exam
  6. CCNP Routing and Switching: It has three exams:
  • CCNP Route 300-101

  • CCNP Switch 300-115 and

  • CCNP Tshoot 300-135.

The total examination fee is $900 USD.

CCNP exam fees in India

CCNP exam fees in India run as follows:

  1. Each CCNP exam costs Rs. 21,258 (USD 300).

  1. The total cost for all three exams is Rs. 63,774 (USD 900).

You also have to pay GST over and above these fees. This is the average range of fees, as some networking training institutes charge differentially. The fee structure also varies a little from one town or place to another.

CCNP eligibility

There is no special or specific criterion for CCNP eligibility. Before February 2020, Cisco Systems required a candidate to have entry-level certifications, but after this cut-off date (February 2020), no entry-level certification has been mandatory to take the CCNP exam.

CCNP eligibility in India

You don’t need to pass an entrance test in India to be eligible to sit in the exam. The main criteria for CCNP eligibility in India is that you should be a graduate and possess work experience in the IT department of a company for three to five years before applying for the CCNP exam.

Though this work experience is not a must, many training institutes demand it for admission and exams. In India, usually a network training institute would demand that you have a bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, or engineering.

CCNA syllabus

The CCNA syllabus is given below:

  1. Network Fundamentals

  2. Network Access

  3. Connectivity

  4. IP Services

  5. Security Fundamentals

  6. Automation and programmability

For the exam in 2024, these are the topics on which questions are going to be set. Sometimes, Cisco changes the syllabus, but for this year, these are the topics included in the syllabus. The syllabi change usually takes place when Cisco introduces a new gadget based on the latest technology or changes old technology.

Besides the written exam on questions set on the above topics, you also have to appear in lab tests to show your knowledge of routers, switches, and other gadgets and instruments from Cisco. Knowledge of Cisco products is essential to passing the exam.
