With these tips we intend to highlight few points which must be kept in mind while going for an interview. People don’t put in many efforts to know about things or points essential before sitting for an interview, as a result of which they do not clear the interview. This article lays emphasis on certain do’s and don’ts to be followed or kept in mind before taking the actual interview.

Tip 1: Research, Rehearse and Relax.

Want to make a good impression on your interviewer? Here’s what you need to do. Research, rehearse and then relax. An interview post its completion either takes you into consideration for the next round of employment or gets you knocked out of scenario of being hired. First impression might or might not help you exist for the entire interview but factors like speaking the “wrong thing” surely lands you out of the interview room in no time, you get disqualified or not selected in minutes. It gets over, all over.

To avoid such circumstances always remember to research about various aspect of your profile and employer. Take ample amount of time to go through with the stuff written on your resume. Present yourself as an asset for the company/organization, continue practicing to keep yourself calm, serene and focused at all times. Don’t let hindrances bother you in any way. Keep negative thoughts, things which might create negativity out of your head and just stay focused on cracking the interview. Make sure that you are able to put yourself and your earlier employment details clearly and precisely so that your employer knows about your work capabilities.

Take a complete look at your job history, know about company and its people, and be sure about the job you are applying for.

Tip 2: Do your Homework

Going for an interview unprepared? Not a good idea. Take some time out to brush up your skills, skills for which you will be hired. Know about your interviewer organization. Stay ahead of time that is try and get as much as information possible in terms of names of people you have to report to, people who will take your interview, area where your interview will be conducted or the room where you need to reach for the interview, for how long the interview will last.

Other things like number of years the organization has been into business, what kind of services or products they deal in or offer, nature and type of business, size of the organization, work environment, do you have any friend or acquaintance working there to guide you better, responsibilities you will in charge of, do you possess the skills required to carry the desired set of responsibilities, how and what are the growth opportunities, what all is expected out of you as an employee of that particular company, etc. Ask these questions to yourself before you take an interview at any organization/company.

Tip 3: Styles of interviewer

Different company, different set of people and different set of interview questions. Some interviewers might just ask you from a pre-written list, some might use an old traditional style while some may directly ask you like “ tell me something about yourself” or “ why should I hire you” or even “ why do you think you are suitable for this job role”. Sometimes you may encounter with situations where interviewers ask you to graphically represent your personality using words or some kind of symbols, etc. Under such circumstances remember to use various pictorial representation forms like bar graphs, pie charts, free hand curves, etc.

Tip 4: Be presentable

Decide on what to wear at least two days prior to your interview make sure whatever you are wearing must be formal or decent enough to be worn on an interview. Decide your clothes according to the nature of organization/company. For girls keep make up and jewelry minimal. Make sure the dress or clothes you are wearing are moderate and comfortable enough to make your appearance impression re-callable. Being neat and clean is an added advantage as a clean persona is much better than a messier one. Always try and be prepared what to wear instead of making last minute plans. Also to note that having a plan B which means having an extra outfit prepared can save you from final day blunders.

 Tip 5: Be on Time

Arriving late to interview is a big NO!! Arriving late might even cause not getting selected for the job. Always keep time factor in your mind. Respect yours and others time as well. In fact reaching the interview spot 10-15 minutes earlier is a good practice making your first impression positive on your interviewers. If you don’t know or are confused about location of the interview, take a trail visit to know which route to follow or take up on “the” day.

Tip 6: Be thankful

Certain gestures of yours tell a lot about your personality to your interviewers, like knock the door while entering into the room, greet them by either saying good morning or hello or even shaking hands. Pay attention to the details of interviewer’s credentials like their name, designation, etc. answer to their questions confidently and honestly and make sure you maintain an eye contact while talking to them. Talk to them friendly but not too casually too. Try and use simple yet good vocab sentences and avoid using difficult words while answering to their questions. Avoid chewing gums or toffees or smoking or using slangs while answering questions, etc.

To sum up be honest without being negative, answer to difficult questions after carefully listening to the question. Taking few minutes before answering is not wrong at all that matters it answering correctly. Rambling, confused or scared signals must not be visible.

Tip 7: Follow-Up

Post finishing your interview make it a point to say Thank you before you leave the room. Appreciate them for their valuable time as time is the most thoughtful gift ever. No harm in asking them about when will the results will out if they still haven’t disclosed about you being selected or not.
